About Jesus Youth

Jesus Youth is an international Catholic youth movement with a Charismatic spirituality. It had its beginnings in Kerala (India), but is now active in many different countries throughout the world. Jesus Youth is an initiative of young people themselves, who, filled with the Holy Spirit try to reach out to other young people. The strength of the movement is its special focus on a life centred on the Lord Jesus Christ; beginning with an experience of God, nourished by prayer, the Word of God, the sacraments and fellowship, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. Though not an actual community, Jesus Youth is a network of small but vibrant groups of young people. In their own life situations, they strive to give time to the Lord, responding to the challenges of today's world in the power of the Holy Spirit.

It was a one day programmed held on 22september07 at Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral hall. There were around 24 teenagers & youth who participated in this joyful event.

The programme started with the rosary procession followed by the ice-breaking ceremony. The participants then spent little time in praising & worshipping the King of Kings.
After that a session on God’s Love was given by Ms. Sheeba Scaria (Udaipur JY Co-ordinator) where she told how unconditional, wonderful& forgiving is God’s Love & explained how to grow in the love of God.
The next talk was given by Vinu George (Rajasthan JY Co-ordinator) on temptations. He explained what are temptations? & how to overcome these temptations.

In the last talk Vinu George & Jaison Alexander (President of Udaipur Youth) shared their experiences & explained how to be fruitful in the work of the Lord.
Finally the One Day Programme ended with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in which all the participants surrendered one by one all the temptations they face in their daily lives & experienced the wonderful mystery of God’s Love.

Week 31

"This is the proof of love that He laid down His life for us, and we too ought to lay down our lives for others. 1John3:16
To reflect : Jesus proved His love for us by laying down His life. He did so that we may have life and we have it to the full. Having done so, God asks us to lay down our lives for our brothers, thus helping them to experience the fullness of life Jesus has for them. When we live out that self-emptying and self-giving (not self seeking) love towards one another, it is indeed proof that we love God. St. John says, "No one who fails to love the brother whom He can see, can love God whom he has not seen". (1John 4:20) The growth in Christianity can be described as having more and more of Jesus and His divine nature in us. The divine nature is to empty Himself completely out of obedience to God and lay down His life completely for others. That is what we are also to aim at in our Christian life- to empty ourselves and become full of Christ bringing forth His nature. We see here the two fundamental principles of Christianity- love of God and love of neighbour. These are the key virtues, which need to be built up in our lives.
Let us pray : Lord Almighty, We look upon you to get the best example of pure love. We are getting it through your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to grow in this self - emptying love and become like your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen
